Sovereign Faith Sisters Challenge 2

I had a hard time with this characteristic of God. It is my favorite word to use when describing God, but the creating a symbolic representation escapes me. Still, the sovereignty of God humbles me beyond what I can say. How grateful I am that He chose me.

Half My Life

Today is our 22nd wedding anniversary. I can say with gladness that I have been married to the same man for half my life. There aren't too many people out there who can say that--and be glad about it!
We've done a lot of ordinary things in our life together, and more than a few extraordinary things. I am grateful for a life partner who loves me, just as I am. We are a good team, Brian and me. We balance each other well, we share important passions, and yet we retain our individuality.
We have lived in five cities, owned four cars (not bad!), ridden multiple centuries on our bicycles, moved across the country (three daughters and greyhound in tow), and along the way discovered new hobbies (who knew BRIAN would be the chef and I would be an artist?) We have survived the passing of Brian's parents, the serious illness of one child, financial highs and lows, and we have bonded together because of the trials.
We have enjoyed vacations with and without our children. We can be joyful as children and serious as judges. We love cruises and Disney and making memories. We think dinner conversation should include laughter and that the best meals we have are the ones we share together as a family. We love God above all things and trust that He will always provide for our needs.
We are mightily blessed and we are thankful that God called us together to be Mr. and Mrs. Brian Loomis.

Baby it's Cold Outside!

Two weeks ago we had a heat wave here in metro Atlanta. This week boasts the coldest temperatures in several years. Craziness. I'm doing my level best to keep my training up, however, and today I did a 4.5 mile powerwalk/easy jog in under an hour. It was 25 degrees. It really felt good once I got going. Then I came home and took Corinne with me to the gym so I could get some strength training in, too. I'm glad for the sunshine, because it doesn't seem as cold in the dry, sunny air.

The weather is supposed to change again--cold and rainy--so I'll be training in the gym until it either warms up again or dries out. I am determined to be super fit by the time the Granite Grinder rolls around. Hopefully I can do a 10-13 mile powerwalk/easy jog on my birthday, which falls during school break. I have a month to do it---and I'm confident I will succeed.

Happy New Year

Wow...2009...

What new things will this year hold? I can't predict, but I do know that God is sovereign over it all and nothing will happen without His knowledge. No matter what, He walks with me.
