Worship
Sing praises to God, sing praises;
sing praises to our King, sing praises.
For God is the King of all the earth;
sing to him a psalm of praise.
Psalm 47: 6-7

The Rollercoaster of Life
I cannot believe it has been two weeks since I blogged here! It's been wild. I've been getting caught up on the family digital album, exercising, and trying to keep up with Caty Mae's swim schedule. (What happened to those "hazy, lazy, crazy days of summer" anyway?)
Of course, God's been teaching me lessons about cheerful obedience, too. I was all set to teach World Lit again in the fall, with a Creative Writing addition. There aren't enough students for Brit Lit, but that changes next year. So I'm skipping merrily along, enjoying getting caught up on projects, until Kimberly (my boss) called and asked whether I would be willing to teach 9th grade Intro to Literature and American Lit---instead of World Lit. Independent Studies is short a couple of teachers, and she figured it would be easier to find a teacher for one class rather than two. I really didn't want to do it, but I told her I would be flexible if she needed me--keeping my fingers crossed that she wouldn't.
It would be more money, which is always helpful, especially with the Romania trip in September, but it would be an enormous amount of prep work. After a few days she dropped the class books off and said she was leaning toward making the change. I finally gulped and not-so-cheerfully told her to go ahead and make the change, unless God suddenly dropped a teacher in from the sky.
After whining a couple of days, I decided to get over myself and be obedient to God's request. I put on a smile, took the books and computer to Starbucks (actually two different ones) and spent six hours outlining a plan, creating summer work, and thinking things through. By the end of the day, I was getting excited about the possibilities, and glad that I had decided to be cheerfully obedient, instead of grudgingly going along.
I sent an e-mail to Kimberly asking to add a couple of books to the American Lit curriculum, and I laughed out loud when I got her response: "God just dropped a teacher from the sky." HAHAHAHA God's joke was on me.
The beautiful thing was the lesson I learned: obey with a glad heart, and God will work out the details one way or another!
