Happiness

I stumbled upon this butterfly in the middle of a hot and sticky "run" Saturday morning. The park is one long loop, the first half of which is gravel, rock, and sunshine; the second half of which is packed dirt and shade. By the time I rounded the park for my second loop, I was dripping sweat and feeling a little dizzy, so it was time to walk. Just as I slowed my (already slow) pace, I spotted this lovely bit of color in the road, just slowing moving its wings in the summer sun. Had I not slowed, I might have missed the moment.

I love using textures, and Kim Klassen has some beauties, including this one: edith.
